BALE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

Day 1 : Drive along the southern
route out of Addis Ababa passing by the Rift Valley Lakes, stopping
at Lake Koka and Lake Ziway for bird watching, to arrive at Lake
Langano for lunch. After lunch drive lo Lake Abiyata and Shala National
Park for more bird watching. Proceed to Awassa to spend the night. Day 2 : After a visit of the Lake
Awassa fish market drive to Dinsho, the headquarters of the Bale
Mountain NP. In the afternoon walk around the camp and spend the
night in the simple lodge. Day 3 : Whole day driving and
walking excursion around Dinsho with the best chance to observe
most of the characteristic fauna and flora of the park. Well known
are the endemic mountain Nay, the Manlike' s bushbuck and die 16
endemic birds. Drive to Bale Goba, me centre of this region. Overnight
(ovn.) in a hotel. Day 4 : Early in the morning leave
your hotel for the Senete Plateau at around 4,000 meters above sea
level, covered with Afro-Alpine plants. The plateau is also the
home of the endemic Semien fox. Ovn, in the same hotel in Bale Goba. Day 5 : Drive back to Addis Ababa,
via Asela, along fertile farmland with magnificent views to Addis

Day 1 : Drive with a 4x4 land-cruiser,
southwest out of Addis, visiting the rock hewn church of Adadi Maryam,
the stelae of Tiya and villages of the Gurage tribe with their neat
thatched-roof circular houses, surrounded by enset "false banana"
trees, to arrive in Hossana. Overnight (ovn.) in a simple hotel
or camping-tent. Day 2 Drive from Hossana to Arba
Minch, overlooking Lake Abaya & Lake Chamo. Two overnights in
a hotel at Arba Minch. Day 3 : A.M. Visit Chencha, the
largest Dorze village with their unique weaved bee-hived shaped
bamboo houses. P.M. if the weather condition allow,-game viewing
in the Nech-Sar National Park. Day 4 : Drive from Arba Minch
to Jinka. En route visit a Konso village with their terraced fields.
Other tribes like the Tsemay, Bena and Ari live between the Weyto-River

and the Neri-River, crossing the Mago NP (2162km3), you will reach
the first villages of theMursi near the Omo river. The Mursi women

the South to Murule, you will enter the typical Acacia-savannah
and the land of the Karo.The Karo and the related Hamar are artists
in creating special hairstyles and in body paintings. Ovn. camping-tent Day 7 : Cross the remote savannah
from Murule to Dimeka. in the centre of the Hamar region. See the
small but interesting market of the town. Ovn. for 2 nights in tents. Day 8 : Whole day time to visit
some of the villages of the transhumant Hamar. Discover their lifestyle.

direction, the road leads you via Erbore and Konso to Arba Minch-
Ovn. in a hotel. Day 11 : Along the large gorge
of the Rift Valley, your next destination is Lake Awassa, Ovn. in

to Addis Abeba, passing the chain of lakes, like Lake Shala, Abiyata
Langano,Ziway,Koka and Hora.
